Dear friends,
we reflect on 2024 with hearts full of pain and unwavering resilience. lt was the most difficult year faced by the movement, and lt was also a year of fierce clarity, remarkable growth, and deepened resolve. 2024 brought suffering beyond words; it would have been easy to surrender to despair. Yet at Combatants for Peace, we chose again – and always – to resist through nonviolence and rebuild what has been broken. And so did you.
You stood with us as we harvested olives with Palestinian farmers and created protective systems for shepherds braving settler violence. You joined us in mourning du ring the joint ceremonies and October commemorations, and in protest against war and occupation from Tel Aviv to Al-Auja to Washington, DC. You empowered us to teach youth across divides through our Freedom Schools, to speak truth in halls of power, and to amplify the voices calling for justice and dignity.
Amid all that was wrong, we witnessed the growing strength of our community that refused to let fear and hatred define our future. When many drew lines of division and constructed walls of separation, you helped us build bridges and pave a third path. We're proud of what we achieved, not because it came easily, but because it came at a great cost, and we chose nonviolence anyway.
Last year made a lot of us wonder if peace was still possible, or if it ever was. But that's not the whole story. The whole story includes thousands of activists, donors, and partners who fought horror and violence by planting seeds of solidarity and peace in rubble and scorched earth. This is the work of building a new world in real-time, with real hands, with you beside us.
Thank you for believing in the movement, not just in words, but in actions. Your generosity, participation, and steadfastness have empowered us through the most dangerous days. With your continued partnership, we will continue co-resisting injustice and co-creating a future where all live in liberty, dignity, and peace. This work is hard and, at times, heartbreaking. It depends on the vision and courage of those who dare to carry it forward. Let us keep daring together.
