In close cooperation with local organizations we conceptualize, accompany and support projects on peace and reconciliation, human rights and environmental protection. We assure our partner organizations – mostly emerging grassroots organizations without much experience in fundraising – substantial support over a fixed period of time. This cooperation is assessed regularly and modified if needed.
The schwelle Foundation is currently supporting projects in Israel, Palestine, Tanzania, Togo, Bosnia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Germany.
Many years after the war the situation remains tense in former Yugoslavia – conflicts between different ethnic and religious groups still exist. The social situation is precarious in some regions and democratic structures develop slowly. The rights of refugees are being violated in Bulgaria and at the EU's external border. Unfair structures, poverty and bleak future prospects dominate everyday life for many people in African countries. The die schwelle Foundation supports and promotes projects in Tanzania and Togo that work for reconciliation and justice and combat poverty by strengthening people's rights and giving them the opportunity to take control of their own future. The current conflict in the Middle East is characterised by a profound imbalance of power and mistrust between the governments and the societies in Israel and Palestine. The situation is marked by escalating violence on both sides, which is both caused by and fuels the conflict. Military and militarism dominate Israeli society. Read more
The consequences of the dictatorships of the last century can still be felt today in some Latin American countries. The schwelle Foundation accompanies and supports projects in Chile and Nicaragua that advocate for human rights and the coming to terms with the consequences of trauma. Read more
