Our partner organisation, the Bulgarian Centre for Legal Aid, has brought together four well-known Bulgarian actresses with four women who have found a home in Bulgaria. The four women seeking protection have written down their stories in very personal letters. The actresses then read these letters aloud on camera. Listen to their stories.

Inspired by the stories of these four women, CLA has submitted a petition to the State Agency for Refugees at the Council of Ministers. The petition calls for applications for international protection from women in particularly vulnerable situations to be assessed fairly, individually and comprehensively. Because behind every application is a human life – and the decision made by the authorities can mean the difference between fear and safety, between life and death. As the stories of the four women presented by CLA show, these decisions require not only careful legal examination, but also human attention and understanding. Sign and share the petition!
