Here, too, we are following the dramatic development of the conflict in Israel and Palestine, which shows that the world needs more than ever the mobilisation of all people of good will to bring peace into the consciousness of all of us as the only credible perspective for the present and future of humanity.
It was in this spirit that we organised the threshold demonstrations in the city of Kpalimé during the week of 14 to 21 September, together with the youth of our project "Hope for Africa" (Projet Espérance Afrique, PEA) and in conjunction with the Foundation.
On 14 September, the celebrations for the "International Day of Peace" were opened in the town hall of the city. The mayor's special representative and traditional and religious figures attended the opening ceremony.
On 21 September, the World Day of Peace, we organised a demonstration: the "Great March for Peace". The peace caravan with different youth groups, training workshops, trade unions, was accompanied by the National Gendarmerie. The demonstration ended at the town hall with traditional performances, songs and dances on the theme of peace. Presentations highlighted different angles of the theme. For example, a former PEA youth, who is now the director of a large vocational training centre for youth, gave a talk on "Africa's Youth and the Issue of World Peace".
We are happy to be able to send the pictures of the special moments of our celebration to the threshold and through it to its entire partner network.
